The material traces formed during the commission of a crime are not only the result of displaying the individual characteristics of the trace-forming objects, which makes it possible to further carry out the process of forensic identification, but also contribute to the establishment of the mechanism of the criminal act or its individual stages, as well as to solve a number of other diagnostic tasks that are important in establishing the factual circumstances of the case under investigation. The material traces related to mechanical tracology are considered, mainly dust traces of shoe soles.
