Insufficiently studied individual organizational and tactical issues of identifying a suspect are considered. The process of identifying a suspect in the investigation of crimes committed in conditions of obscurity has been studied. The article describes the main directions of collecting information about the identity of the suspect and examines the organizational and analytical activities of the investigator to identify the person who committed the crime. The provisions of pre-interrogation situations are considered. The contents of the five main pre-interrogation situations and their significance for the investigation are outlined. Scientific and practical recommendations on the use of elements of pre-interrogation situations for choosing tactics of interrogation of a suspect are formulated. The combination of organizational methods and tactics in identifying a suspect and preparing for his interrogation is shown.
