Among the tasks facing the state, the protection of wildlife, which is significantly damaged by poaching, occupies an important place. One of the most effective mechanisms for protecting wildlife is criminal liability for the transportation of illegally obtained hunting products, since transportation is the link between the extraction of an animal and its sale. The criminological characteristics of the identity of the criminal who committed illegal hunting using a vehicle are of particular interest to scientists and law enforcement agencies. The purpose of the study was to identify the criminological personality traits of a criminal who committed illegal hunting using a vehicle, which determine criminal behavior. As part of the study, relevant statistical data obtained as a result of the disclosure and investigation of criminal cases in 2024 were requested and studied at the regional level in 11 territorial bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. A comprehensive analysis of the information provided, as well as Russian legislation and scientific papers related to the issue under consideration, has been carried out. As a result of the conducted research, it was possible to carry out the author's criminological characterization of the identity of the criminal who committed illegal hunting using a vehicle. The formulated conclusions can be used in law enforcement activities in order to control the operational situation, individualize punishment and crime prevention, as well as in scientific research to solve problematic issues of countering illegal hunting committed using a vehicle.
