The current trends in the digitalization of society, based on global and Russian statistical data, are considered. The importance of mobile communications, the Internet and social networks in everyday life is emphasized and the role of the Telegram messenger as a key tool used not only for communication, but also in illegal activities is revealed. Technological features that ensure anonymity and scalability of criminal activity, including channels, groups, bots, and other functions, are described. It is concluded that there is a need to balance digital security and respect for the rights and freedoms of citizens. The relevance of creating new approaches to cybersecurity and improving the activities of law enforcement agencies in the context of global digital transformation is substantiated.
