The comprehensive analysis of the current state of the machine-building industry in Russia is presented, the structural features, territorial distribution and dynamics of the development of mechanical engineering in the context of sanctions restrictions are examines. The study covers key aspects of the industry, including statistical data, industry indicators, problems and development prospects. Special attention is paid to the processes of import substitution, innovative transformation and overcoming structural imbalances in the machine-building complex. The presented material is based on official statistical data, analytical studies and expert assessments for the period 2021‒2024.
