The features of the use of special knowledge in the system of ensuring public safety in the field of trafficking in drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors are considered. The importance is noted not only for interstate cooperation in countering organized crime, but also for expanding the possibilities of applying special knowledge in the preventive activities of law enforcement agencies, primarily related to significant changes in crime, the development of new synthetic drugs and their precursors, the turnover of which is not regulated by regulatory legal acts. Proposals on the use of special knowledge in the production of preventive expertise and research are formulated.
