A comparative legal study of the criminal law norms of Russian and foreign criminal legislation is being carried out, which determine the limit of harm permissible for causing with the necessary defense. The principles on the basis of which the norms on the limit of necessary defense are constructed are considered; historical trends of their change are shown.
