The results of the study of the phenomenon of professional stability of an officer in extreme situations of professional activity are presented. A theoretical and methodological analysis of the key concepts for the study of «extremity», «extreme situation», «professional stability» is carried out, their essential and meaningful characteristics are given. It has been established that the professional stability of an officer in extreme situations is one of the leading personal characteristics of an officer, ensuring his personal and professional reliability and effectiveness. The structural composition of the officer's professional stability is determined, in the architecture of which normative-target, motivational-reflective, cognitive, emotional-volitional and organizational-activity components are distinguished. According to the results of the study, it was proposed to use its results in the practice of the activities of military units and subunits for organizing information and educational work and psychological training of officers.
