The use of specialized tools and methods for opening locking devices is one of the most difficult problems in the forensic investigation of crimes against property. The high professionalism of the criminals and the thoughtfulness of their actions significantly complicate the process of identifying the perpetrators and proving guilt. The study is devoted to the study of the features of the analysis of cylinder locks exposed to the method of self-suppression, widely used by intruders when committing burglaries. The purpose of the study is to identify characteristic tool marks on the elements of the cylinder mechanism, which make it possible to identify specific hacking tools and confirm the participation of specific individuals in illegal actions. To achieve this goal, a number of experimental studies have been conducted aimed at reproducing the process of opening locks in this way. The obtained results made it possible to identify signs that make it possible to determine the use of special lock picks that are essential as evidence in the consideration of criminal cases. The presented conclusions have important theoretical and practical significance for improving the effectiveness of the detection and investigation of crimes committed by illegally entering residential premises through the manipulation of locking mechanisms.
