The processes of adaptation and integration of Russian-speaking migrants from CIS countries in Russia are analyzed, with an emphasis on socio-economic factors and the role of state migration policy as a key instrument for shaping these processes. The historical background of migration is considered, from post—Soviet repatriation to current trends in labor and educational migration. Special attention is paid to the impact of the basic level of Russian language proficiency on integration, as well as the challenges associated with bureaucratic barriers, competition in the labor market, ethnic and cultural differences and xenophobic sentiments. Measures to improve integration policy are proposed: simplification of legalization procedures, development of language programs, pedagogical support for migrant children and stimulation of positive perception of multilingualism in society. Additionally, the impact of emigration waves on the preservation and transformation of the Russian language abroad is analyzed.
