Provides an analysis of various methodological approaches to formulating the definitions of «digital information» and «computer information». Additionally, the study examines scholarly perspectives on the relationship between these categories and the concepts of «digital traces» and «computer traces», as well as presents a systematization of relevant conceptual approaches. Within the framework of this research, the author proposes a classification of computer information. Based on the conducted analysis, a scientific hypothesis is advanced regarding the potential development of the theory of digital traces through the lens of computer information — specifically, by taking into account the criterion of representativeness of digital information for the end user in its final computer processing.
