The norms of the criminal procedure laws of the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, regulating the procedure for conducting an inspection of the scene of a crime in pre-trial criminal proceedings are being examined. The authors argue that the importance of the inspection is determined by the fact that various material consequences of the crime are often left at the scene of the crime, expressed in the form of various traces and other evidence that are necessary for solving the crime. It is proven that the conditions reflecting the effectiveness of solving the inspection problems are directly related to its principles, which include: legality, completeness, consistency, timeliness, comprehensiveness and objectivity, as well as activity and unified management of the inspection, the use of the necessary special technical devices. In conclusion, the authors substantiate the conclusion that the rules regulating the procedure for conducting an inspection in Russia and in the Republics of Tajikistan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are essentially similar and do not have significant differences. This suggests that the evolution of the criminal procedure law in these countries has common roots and further similar vectors of its development with the criminal procedure law of Russia.
