The socio-ecological state of the subjects of Russia is analyzed through the prism of sustainable development. The factors and definition of administrative and legal regulation in this area are given. Modern studies of environmental safety are considered. The results of a survey of Russian citizens of various regions on the state of the environment are reflected. Recommendations for improving the environmental safety of the regions are proposed. The social factors of the development of the legislation of the Russian Federation and its subjects, including in the field of assigning administrative responsibility, are outlined. According to the results of the study, the relevant conclusions are presented.
