The problems of forming the competence of a forensic expert are considered. It is noted that to the main two groups of criteria for the competence of an expert (objective and subjective), it is necessary to add the degree of proficiency of the expert in the system of special knowledge in the field of modern innovative technologies in a specific type of forensic examination. Expert errors arising from the use of modern innovative technologies, as well as errors in the production of forensic examinations associated with the low competence of the investigator, are considered. It is proposed to expand the list of disciplines studied not only in the aspect of information support and technologies, but also the development of professional educational programs on new technologies.
