The organizational and legal foundations of the activities of international organizations to ensure food security are being revealed. The classification of international organizations in the field under study, which is carried out according to various criteria is given. Special attention in the article is paid to international organizations of special competence dealing directly with food security issues. The author reveals the organization and activities of such international intergovernmental organizations as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the Committee on World Food Security, the International Fund for Agricultural Development and the Intergovernmental Council on The Agro-Industrial Complex of the CIS. The article also pays attention to international non-governmental organizations, including the Eurasian Center for Food Security (Agrarian Center of Moscow State University), the World Food Program, the National Association for Genetic Safety, the Food Safety Monitoring Agency, the Institute of Industrial Nutrition, the Global Forum on Agricultural Research, the Advisory Group on International Agricultural Research.
