The features of the norms of the criminal legislation of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus providing for liability for criminal violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles are analyzed. It is established that the criminal legislation of both countries requires a number of changes in order to increase the preventive potential of criminal legal means. A number of measures have been proposed to improve Russian and Belarusian legislation providing for criminal liability for the crime in question.
