This article presents a retrospective social analysis of the specifics of the growth of remote crimes during the pandemic. The authors draw attention to changes in social crime due to quarantine restrictions, noting a decrease in traditional ordinary crimes such as theft and murder. However, they also draw attention to the increase in the number of crimes related to the use of the Internet and information and telecommunication technologies. The authors emphasize the low level of information technology literacy among Russians and the insufficient preparation of the law enforcement and security systems to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens in the online environment.
