The relevance of taking into account political risks in the system of ensuring economic security is increasing against the background of the development of the crisis. In the context of a sharp aggravation of the political situation, the practical activity of analysts in terms of studying political risks is becoming more significant than it was before. The search for solutions to the most important socio-economic problems requires in-depth historical analysis, which affects a wide range of issues of methodology for assessing political risks. The implementation of specific measures to prevent political risks in the oil industry is largely determined by the level of technological development of the industry, the state of sales markets, the nature of intersectoral cooperation, as well as the specifics of the territorial location of production. In the oil sector of the economy, the need to integrate political risk into the enterprise risk management system is of particular importance. Attention is paid to the quality of the study of political risks, the level of elaboration of the most likely scenarios, and the assessment of the nature and scale of the consequences of decisions taken and being made. The relevance of developing special requirements for both the training of specialists in this field and their selection for conducting in-depth analytical research is demonstrated.
