Reveals the relationship between the development of human capital, the realization of Russia's national interests and the directions of ensuring economic security in the face of increasing challenges. It is proved that sustainable reproduction and strategic development of human capital are essential conditions for ensuring eco-nomic, scientific and technological security. The expansion of scientific ideas about the role of human capital makes it possible to reinterpret the concept of economic sovereignty in a new way as a result of not only institutional and re-source self-sufficiency, but also reliance on national intellectual and professional potential.
