Considered modern challenges and threats in the sphere of internal affairs of the Russian Federation, which represent key risks for ensuring national security. A wide range of issues is analyzed: from digital threats and cybercrime to organized crime, terrorism, drug and arms trafficking, as well as illegal migration. Special attention is paid to the internal problems of the Russian Interior Ministry system, such as staff shortages, declining prestige of the service, corruption and excessive bureaucratization of management processes. Based on the analysis, a set of organizational, technological, personnel and legal measures is proposed aimed at improving the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies, strengthening preventive work, modernizing management and restoring public trust. The conclusion is drawn about the need for a systematic and interrelated approach to adapt the internal affairs bodies to modern conditions.
