The popularity and prevalence of modern operating systems that are used in users' personal computers. Based on this analysis, the individual features of the operation and storage of information in the most commonly used operating systems operating in personal computers are considered. The process of forming criminalistically significant information in operating systems that may be important for the disclosure and investigation of illegal acts is investigated, a list of it is proposed, and the types and capabilities of various software designed to extract criminalistically significant information are analyzed.
