The article describes the process of teaching grammatical phenomena of the English language in the system of language training at a university, during which the selection of optimal ways and means of effectively achieving educational goals related to the formation of foreign language communicative competence as one of the universal competencies of students takes place. According to the authors, organizing the process of teaching English in accordance with the concept of constructivist coordination makes it possible, through the use of active technologies, to include each student in educational activities, promoting the development of higher-level cognitive abilities in students and the acquisition of skills in independent construction of subject knowledge. The proposed model of teaching grammar based on this concept meets the modern requirements of the competency-based approach, as it forms students’ readiness for effective interpersonal interaction and productive professional activity.
