The relevance of the topic of the law of additional professional education of minors, the definition of the problems of legal regulation, is due to both theoretical and practical significance. The role of additional education in the process of continuing education is currently insignificant. The main condition for the development and implementation of additional education is the variability of education, the pedagogically oriented approach of the teacher, the positive attitude of both the child and his relatives to learning and explanatory publications in the media. At the same time, despite the development of the whole society, problems often arise associated with social changes in society, which often cause negative manifestations in the situation of minors: the level of crime among young people, alcoholism and drug addiction is increasing. The reason for all this is not only the decline in the standard of living, but also the lack of a scientifically developed system of social and legal support for children, including through additional professional education. «Additional education» as a category in jurisprudence has not yet been clearly established. All existing categories, to one degree or another related to «additional professional education», find contradictory interpretations of their content and take into account the representation of categories and concepts in the category of «additional education» itself. The article attempts to analyze its concept in the historical and legal aspect.
